RE: Wear your Safety Gear!!!!!!!! Deaths at Jawbone

I am highly capable of keeping myself safe in and on pretty much any vehicle. I do worry about those without the skills..ie...wife, kids.
Mav
Classic statement. Everyone, at least every guy, thinks they're highly capable. It's always the other clowns who don't know what they're doing. I guess we could let Darwin decide...

Smooth ride

Here's our problem; my wife has had some health issues recently. From surviving cancer, to a broken neck from falling off her dirt bike. Her surgeon has told us that she should not ride again, as the next time could be even worse. She has had three surgeries this year, and is NOT wanting to stop riding. It's not too cool to go to the desert, and make her sit around camp while we all ride. Before we sell the toyhauler & bike collection, I though we might try an alternative (if one exists). We need a "low impact" machine for her to drive. We ride places like Ocotillo Wells, Spangler Hills, Johnson Valley, etc. No interest in dunes whatsoever, so no interest in "sand rails". I'm thinking along the lines of a small off-road buggy. Not the little chinese types, but more like something with a decent motor, and very supple suspension. Prefer something shorter than 12' to fit in the trailer. Also, We're not going to spend a ton on it, and we're not trying to impress anyone with a super custom off road car. Great suspension is key. Just something relatively simple for her (us) to explore in.
Ideas?

RE: Now Extreme RV shuts its doors

These companies need sales income to support their warranties.
Agreed. Now with Fleetwood being delisted from the NYSE, and I read that Beaudry RV lost their line of Fleetwood, probably the creditors taking it back. That's not a good sign for Fleetwood.
According to a senior manager there, Beaudry is getting out of the RV business entirely.

RE: New Ragen Toy Hauler - Towing Help

This thread is probably a hoax like that bozo with the Mercedes ML tale last year...
Haaa you're killing me. Yea I'm the Bozo, but let's face it this place is pretty AARP convention without some level of excitement.
You sky jockeys are all a like. Opinionated a$$ clowns that think you know it all. Well at least I've never dropped my 5er on the bed of my truck.
For what it's worth I have had a class A non comm license for 3 years, and CAT scale tickets on everything I own and I've never put a combination of truck and trailer together that is not legal. Can you say that? Probably not, but you're a pilot so it's OK.
I seem to recall you're trailer is over 15,000 pounds, do you have your class A non comm? Of course not, you're a highly educated pilot and don't need to play by the rules the rest of us minions need to adhere to.
Sorry to disappoint you Chimpster!
Yes, we airline pilots do tend to have superior intellect & education. We're also better looking, richer, and have hotter women. Remember that when you're on a 767 over the North Atlantic with one engine on fire... ;) I used that amazing intellect to select & buy a trailer that was within my truck's capacity, and got the endorsement to tow it. All 15k# of it, just like the official sticker says.
Thanks for playing! Now go on back to the Fooligan forum...

RE: Timbrens or Air Bags

Timbrens. Easier installation. Less expensive. Nothing to leak. Nothing to adjust. Don't affect unloaded ride at all. Install & forget...

RE: Anybody need an RV towed from Indiana to Phoenix area?

We always need trailers hauled from IL out west. We have two waiting to go now. What dates can you pick up? The units are approx 17' & 3000 lb. Next month, we need seven units hauled from IL to Mesa.
Hi Ed,
I tried to PM you about this, looks like a potential good fit. Feel free to PM me to exchange contact info.
Thanks

RE: thousand trails?

Turns out to be the other way around we like the open dez with no hook ups and toys way more and will just keep paying TT so when retirement happens it will be paid off:B
You went into debt to buy a kampground membership? :h Even when the basic debt is retired, thousand trails will never be "paid off". You and your kids will be paying forever, whether or not you use their "facilities". Plus, all the "user fees" if you do use it. Glad it works for you, sure not our style.

RE: New Ragen Toy Hauler - Towing Help

Hmm... Most folks add at least 1000-2000 pounds of tools, spares, food, clothes, beer, firewood, propane, gas, etc. And another 1000+ pounds of water. Ever going to take anyone with you? Will they need food, clothes, beer, etc? Maybe a couple of chairs & a table? It all adds up, and quickly.
Rage'n is an excellent product, one of the best. What did the dealer tell you about the warranty? If that seems like a strange question, take a few minutes and search the forum for more info.
Bottom line: you bought a great trailer, but you'll likely need more truck to be happy towing it.

RE: thousand trails?

Let's see... This IS a toyhauler forum, and thousand trails doesn't allow toys. If you like the KOA type of "kampgrounds", thousand trails is probably for you. Here in California, we have awesome state & national parks, which are far superior to the few thousand trails I've seen. But, if you want somewhere with a motel-like pool, craft classes, and old geezers patrolling around in golf carts, then thousand trails may be your thing. No, we're NOT members. Checked it out, and the few T/T "parks" we've seen were really crappy, compared to the aforementioned public campgrounds. But, we're not into highly regulated "kamping". As toyhaulers, we prefer places where there are little or no hook-ups, where our toys are welcomed, and where we're not on a cement slab, ten feet from the next kamper. Thousand Trails; Club Med for the proletariat. :Z

RE: Warrior's assets siezed

Maybe we could start a thread for all the people that haven't had problems with their WWs. It might give me some peace of mind. I'm getting worried that I have a giant elephant on my back.
YOu and 767guy could have your own thread....
Why the sourpuss attitude? What has YOUR experience with Weekend Warrior been like? Or are you just another bozo who likes to kick folks when they're down? Our experience (we actually DO own a Weekend Warrior) has been pretty good. Good buying experience, and it's served us quite well. Of the five off-roader families we're friends with, four own Weekend Warriors, and none have had negative experiences. Guess that bothers some of you. Too bad, we're going to keep enjoying our trailers.

RE: Do you use a trailer cover?

The problem with using a cover is that the trailer must be washed prior to putting the cover on. Otherwise, the cover will be rubbing the dirt into the trailer. We park our trailer at home, so it's no big deal to wash it and then cover it, but seems like that would be a major hassle in a storage lot.

RE: Any suggestions?

So Y-guys post is the problem with WW? What a crock. WW got where they are today by NOT TAKING CARE of it's customers and deserve every bit of publicity they get by not doing so. Go on and puff your chest out and tell everyone how happy you are with yours... the fact remains that WW got where they are today by building some real garbage.
Mr. Socket,
Read it again. :R Posts like yguys PERPETUATE, but do not CAUSE public perception of W/W. Yguy admits he's never actually owned a W/W, have you? Or are you merely participating in second-hand speculation? Yguy's post insinuates that WW fifth-wheel frames are suspect with no basis in fact, if it is factual, show us the myriad of folks with broken WW fifth-wheel frames. In addition his comments regarding a 2006 WW warranty situation are also misleading. There simply aren't ANY 2006 WW units that could possibly be under warranty after being sold. So, of what productive use are those misleading comments, yguy? Mr.Socket?
Weekend Warrior has sold far more units than any other toyhauler. Correspondingly, their defect rate would be proportional. Is it not?
You bet they messed up and built some lousy units. They apparently overstepped their financial limits as well. Now they are certainly paying the price. I believe there are still far more folks happy with their WW trailers, than the complainers (some rightfully) here represent. Anecdotally, none of our friends who own WW units are unhappy with them. Does that negate those that are? Of course not. No more than the thousands of satisfied WW owners negate the unhappy ones.

RE: Any suggestions?

One issue to be aware of that KBB and NADA will not take into account for yet is the warranty and frame problems WW is facing.
It's posts like yours that needlessly perpetuate the downward spiral. A 2006 Weekend Warrior trailer will NOT be under warranty to any potential buyer, and the frame problems haven't been with the fifth-wheel trailers. :R Most of us that actually own W/W units are quite happy with them, haven't had frame problems, and have had a good experience with them.
